Caregiver Support Groups at Ascend Health

At Ascend Health, we believe the best care for patients begins with care for our team. That’s why we offer dedicated caregiver support groups to ensure our caregivers feel supported, heard, and valued.

What Is a Caregiver Support Group?

Ascend Health’s caregiver support groups are inclusive, judgment-free spaces where team members can connect, share, and support one another. Led by trained facilitators, these peer-focused sessions help caregivers process challenges, build emotional resilience, and strengthen community across our hospice, palliative, and home health teams. They’re a powerful way to reduce burnout, boost well-being, and remind caregivers they’re never alone.

Why Caregiver Support Matters

Working in hospice, palliative, or home care is deeply personal and emotionally meaningful work. But it can be emotionally intense and physically demanding. That’s why we offer wellness-focused resources, including:

  • Emotional support through regular caregiver group sessions
  • Peer-led discussions and shared experiences
  • Opportunities to develop emotional resilience
  • A supportive space to build and set boundaries to prevent burnout
  • A workplace culture rooted in whole-person care for patients and staff

What to Expect From Caregiver Support Group Sessions

Groups meet regularly (in-person or online) and are open to all care team members, including nurses, aides, social workers, spiritual counselors, and administrative staff. Each Ascend Health caregiver support group session is a relaxed, supportive space designed to help you feel connected and cared for. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Join the group: Meet virtually or in person with fellow Ascend caregivers.
  2. Check In: Start with a brief welcome and optional sharing.
  3. Open conversation: Talk through challenges, wins, or just listen and reflect.
  4. Take away support: Leave with self-care tips, encouragement, and connection.
